Returning Student Room Selection

Same apartment selection is for students wanting to choose their current apartment as their living space for next academic year. Students who currently live in a campus apartment and will be returning the following academic year as a full-time student (registered for a minimum of 12 credits) are eligible to participate in the same apartment selection process. Students who are graduating in Fall 2024 must have a minimum of three credits to be eligible to live in a campus apartment for that term.

Students will be notified of their status on or before Feb. 16, 2024.

Is your apartment group eligible for Same Apartment Selection?

• One member of your current apartment group must be returning to that same unit in order to be eligible for Same Apartment Selection.
• The returning group member must list all replacement roommates to fill the apartment in the application; all students must be full-time students at Augustana University. All bedrooms in your apartment must be full in order to be approved for same apartment selection. If you cannot find a roommate to fill an empty space in your apartment, your application will not be approved. This applies even if your apartment was not full in the 2023-24 academic year.
• Only one person from each apartment needs to complete this application; only one submission per group is necessary.

The apartment lottery is for students wishing to live in Augustana's on-campus apartments next academic year. The apartment lottery is a random lottery draw. Current second-year students and above (those who graduated high school in spring 2022 or earlier) are eligible to opt into the apartment lottery. Students must be registered as full-time students (minimum of 12 credits) for the following term to be eligible for apartment living.

Augustana apartments can accommodate two, three, or four students depending on the building and apartment layout. We do not have single apartments available.

Criteria

• Your roommate group must match the size of the apartment exactly. You will not be assigned to an apartment if you do not have enough roommates to fill all the bedrooms.
• Students who are married, have dependent child(ren) living with them or are enrolled in an Augustana graduate program will be considered for the Costello Hall Apartments. Any questions can be directed to studentaffairs@gofuya.com.

Theme houses are specialized on-campus housing options which allow residents to merge their academic excellence and service through local service opportunities. Houses are designed for three to 10 participants who, with guidance from a faculty/staff advisor, create and plan at least two service or education projects per semester with a focus of their choice.

Current second-year students and above (those who graduated high school in Spring 2022 or earlier) are encouraged to apply for a theme house.

• It's a great way to merge your academic experience with opportunities to educate other students and give back to the community.
• Flexible housing assignments mean your theme house group may consist of any student, regardless of gender identity.
• You can enjoy increased independence with access to all the resources available for students who live on campus.

Room selection will be an online process through Residence beginning on Monday, April 1, 2024. Every student will receive an email from Residence with their room selection time and instructions after Spring Break. Now is a great time to think about where you might want to live next year and with whom you want to live.

Students who currently live in communities are eligible for Same Room Selection. Applications are due by March 17, at 5 p.m.

Criteria for Same Room Selection

• Rooms designated as doubles are not available for same room selection as a single room; this applies even if you lived in a double room as a single by yourself for the 2023-24 academic year. Students who participate in same room selection must identify a roommate or have one assigned to them.
• If both you and your current roommate plan to return to the same room, only one of you needs to complete the application
• Current Viking Advisors are not eligible for same room selection

• All of East Hall
• Solberg Hall — Second & Third Floors
• Wagoner Hall — Second & Third Floors

Current first-year students who wish to live off campus their second year can submit an off-campus housing request. The 2-year residency requirement may be waived if the student meets one of the following criteria:

• Plans to live at home (local address) with parent/guardian
• Is married and/or has children
• Graduated high school in Spring 2022 or earlier
• Is a part-time student (10 credit hours or fewer)

Current sophomores and above who plan to live off campus next academic year do not need to submit the off-campus request form since they are no longer required to live on campus.

Bergsaker Hall

Bergsaker Hall is a newly renovated hall and will be open to first-year students for the 2024-2025 academic year. Genders are divided by wing, except for the first floor east wing, which will be a flexible housing space. Amenities in Bergsaker include elevator, AC, study rooms on each floor, spacious lounge on each floor, updated kitchen and lounge on first floor, first-floor laundry and updated bathrooms.

East Hall

East is open to third-year students and above. East contains mostly single rooms and has a quieter atmosphere. East amenities include kitchen, study rooms, large lounge and laundry in the basement.

Granskou Hall

Granskou Hall is open for all upper-class students (sophomores and above). Genders are divided by floor, with the first floor being a flexible housing (gender inclusive) community. Granskou amenities include elevators, AC, carpeted floors, large rec room and kitchen in the basement.

Solberg Hall

Solberg Hall is a newly renovated hall and will be open to upper-class students. Genders are divided by wing. Amenities include elevator, AC, study rooms on each floor, spacious lounge, updated kitchen and updated bathrooms.

Stavig Hall

Stavig Hall is open for first-year students. Genders are divided by floor with the first floor being a flexible housing (gender inclusive) community. Stavig amenities include elevators, AC, carpeted floors, large rec room and kitchen in the basement.

Tuve Hall

Tuve Hall will be offline for the 2024-25 academic year.

Wagoner Hall

Wagoner Hall is Augustana’s newest residence hall and is available to both first-year and upper-class students. Students live in a double room with a roommate and share a private bathroom with another roommate pair of the same gender. Amenities for Wagoner include an elevator, AC, private bathrooms, study rooms on each floor, a large lounge on each floor, first-floor laundry and a state-of-the-art kitchen on the first floor. Students living in Wagoner Hall are connected to a community space complete with conference rooms, meditation room, study rooms and a large lounge.
